Fraser Stewart (DAI, 2013) will be one of the 2014 Rijksacademie residents
Twenty-nine artists have been invited by the Rijksakademie/De Ateliers for the 2014 residency year. A jury reviewed over 1500 applications from more than 100 different countries. The procedure, including the assessment of candidates from the Netherlands together with the Mondriaan Fund, began in January and was completed in July.
The selection committee consists of leading international artists and art experts affiliated with the Rijksakademie or De Ateliers. The Mondriaan Fund will provide practice-based research grants for Dutch participants.
The selection is announced during the annual Circle of Friends' summer luncheon, a yearly tradition for private parties, foundations and companies who contribute substantially to the Rijksakademie. They are actively involved with the institute and the artists that work here.
Fraser Stewart is one of the participants in Making Use, Dutch Art Institute at the VanAbbemuseum.
In September 2013 he will show a new work in Istanbul in the context of Curating Academy, another DAI-exhibition- this time curated by Frederique Bergholtz and Grant Watson.
