Edwin Nasr
Edwin Nasr (b. 1994 in Haret Sakher, Lebanon) lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He has held curatorial and administrative positions at CCA Berlin — Center for Contemporary Arts (2021-2023); Ashkal Alwan — The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, Beirut (2018-2023); and de Appel, Amsterdam (2021-2022), where he also completed the Curatorial Programme.
His research is broadly concerned with art and archival practices' engagement with histories of the anti-colonial Left, as well as their propensity to make legible spaces and modalities of capture and extraction. Together with Sarah Rifky, I have co-organized the Towards an Institute of Black Studies (2021) symposium at Quai Branly Museum, Paris and the Alexandria: Past Futures (2022-2023) exhibition at Bozar, Brussels and MUCEM, Marseille.
His ongoing collaborative project with Hera Chan, NOT A READY-MADE HISTORY , has been presented through different iterations with SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin as well as the Singapore Art Museum and the Seoul Museum of Art. Forthcoming and recent essays can be found in Afterall Journal , Mousse Magazine, Bidoun, n+1, The Funambulist, Spike Art Magazine, e-flux Criticism, Metropolis M , as well as in exhibition catalogs by the Sharjah Art Foundation, Portikus Frankfurt, and Grazer Kunstverein.
He is currently working on a short book tracing the intellectual and affective afterlives of the Lebanese radical left in the aftermath of the 1975-1990 civil wars.
