Mokia Laisin

Mokia Laisin (born in Bafoussam, 1994) is a writer, curator and publications editor at SAVVY Contemporary.

He is also a recovering "international development professional" whose work is predominantly concerned with poverty and its root causes of imperialism and neo-colonialism. He studies the ways in which, through a more popularized understanding of the anti-colonial literary canon, narrative power can be reclaimed in service of the many. His work is therefore to use writing and other forms to relativise the counter-hegemonic positions which he sees as more naturally formed and thus better understood within conditions of struggle.

Today, he works as Co-managing editor of SAVVY Contemporary Publications alongside Meghna Singh and is also part of SAVVY Kwata in Limbe, Cameroon - A Library and community space as well as a place for preservation and transmission of knowledges which are situated beyond the written form.
