Sophia Zbinovsky Braddel
Sophia Zbinovsky Braddel is a vegetarian chef, feminist artist and researcher currently based in Rome. She grew up in Moscow (RU), England and Massachusetts (USA) and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Bard University in Berlin.
While in Berlin, she planned, organized and executed various social and political events with the Feminist Food Club from 2018-2020.
Sophia has worked as a researcher, writer and editor at Bioversity International in the Department of Gender and continues to work on her own feminist projects regarding the body, food culture, folk tradition, psychology, fermentation and horror.
She has cooked in various kitchens for the past ten years and upon finishing her Master’s degree in Food Studies from the American University of Rome (focused on agricultural policy and sustainable global food distribution) she trained at the Rome Sustainable Food Project to better understand how to execute large-scale daily-changing menus with 0-km seasonal produce. She takes this ethos into her own cooking style, creating flexible food scapes in different environments, with an emphasis on bold flavors, intuitive cooking, low-waste techniques, colorful presentation and joyful community-building consumption.
She founded Rome’s Feminist Food Club in 2023 and works alongside chef Sara Baron-Goodman with their project Eat Out Supperclub @eatoutsupperclub. Find her on instagram @walnutbitch.
