Hi there!
We are excited to be a part of this conversation, conceived by Deniz Kırkalı and organised by poşe (artist-run space in Istanbul, TR) and moderated by Marwan's friend Dieuwertje Hehewerth, revolving around the impact of COVID-19 on independent art initiatives, looking at notions such as immunity, distance and closure and invite you to participate*.
"this closure is an online event taking place within the scope of Etüt / Study Session, in collaboration with Dieuwertje Hehewerth, an Amsterdam-based artist and the editor of the book Salticidae.
Together with Atelier W (FR), LOA Gallery (UK), Marwan (NL), MEANWHILE (NZ) and Tlaxcala3 (MX) poşe will conduct an online workshop addressing the impact of COVID-19 on independent art initiatives around the world, their positioning within the new art world, their coping mechanisms, the possibilities of online, new funding strategies amongst other questions. Starting with an international dialogue at such an unusual time will be an important step in opening up the conversations the organizers have been having mostly within the art ecosystem in Turkey to a much broader international audience and participants and to build a larger network of independent practitioners.
Etüt / Study Session is a programme of three invitations that has started in the fall of 2019, conceived by Deniz Kırkalı and organised by poşe. It aims to ruminate on, as well as to create, alternatives to collective modes and models of working. The third and final invitation of Study Session is an online platform where independent artists and cultural producers, initiatives and collectives can get together, build alternative communities, share knowledges and use according to their urgencies and needs."

"About the participants:
::Atelier W:: @atelierwpantin
W, an artist-run space rooted in the city of Pantin (suburb of Paris). It's a place for work, meetings, experimentation and dissemination of contemporary art. It holds a monthly programme of exhibitions and events of local, national and international renown. It is also a collective of artists that run projects unified thoughts, advocating the construction of a practice and cooperative gesture.
W always implements a collegial and speculative working method, around issues related to the practice of art and its apportionment.
Since the beginning of its history, in 2010, W has been asserting its territory and taking an active part in cultural action by forging links between the local public, school audiences and those involved in contemporary art.
By being at the heart of a venue, W provides artists with a network of peers and an easily identifiable place for the art community. In 2020, the association W is setting up a programme of residences to offer a low-rent work space.

::LOA Gallery:: @LOAGallery
𝗟eave 𝗢f 𝗔bsence is a new kind of self sustainable art space that exists to explore the positioning of contemporary art, its creator and viewers in an age of transient movement.
LOA is hidden inside a private gated courtyard off Dalston Lane. A small white cube space with limited opening hours to the public. Each exhibiting artist is nominated by the funding members and will be asked to nominate three artists to consider making work for the space. One who they know of in person, one who they do not and one who does not have the right to live and work in the UK. These artists will then go on to make their own nominations, creating a hyperbolic network of connected ideas. From 2020 onwards, LOA will also invite guest curators and accept exhibition proposals.
In a time in which the relationship between viewers and the visual arts has evolved through the screens we hold; in which our legal existence in an imagined community is determined by the passport we are born with, LOA exists to explore the transnational identities through the work of international emerging artists.
