Abstract
While goods and capital circulate without restriction around the world and artists from privileged countries and backgrounds cross borders and perform various types of labor freely, capitalist patriarchal systems of governance restrict the mobility of certain dem ographics. The format of artist residencies – a time and space given to thinking and (net)working – is ideally suited to formulating theories and identifying tactics that point to an intersectional feminist practice of mobility. Navigating across materialist feminist-influenced utopian territor ies, this thesis investigates the potentialities of artist residencies as experiences where artists, curators and cultural workers can train their political imagination to resist the neoliberal counterrevolution.
