ROAMING ASSEMBLY

The Roaming Assembly is an irregularly recurring public symposium commisioned by DAI: a state-of-the-art speculative and hybrid program exploring specific themes and topics of contemporary relevance to the thinking of art in the world today.
Although embedded in the DAI's syllabi, Roaming Assembly editions are not conceived as extensions of running DAI theory seminars or COOP study groups, but rather envisioned as sovereign happenings designed to mobilize our bodies, our intelligences ~ there where our Roaming Academy takes us.
Topic and line-up follow lines of thought proposed by an invited curator who is very knowledgeable about and closely connected with the socio-political, cultural and artistic fabric of the (annually changing) region, city or town that will be temporarily hosting two of DAI's Confluences, including the COOP SUMMIT. The Roaming Assembly is then produced by DAI in close conversation with this curator or curatorial team and in collaboration with the hosting venue (over the years Roaming Assemblies were organised in theatres, cultural centres, museums and other public spaces ).
All Roaming Assembly editions, past, present and future are ~ were ~ will be open to the wider public - while video documentation of pretty much all the presentations is or will be made available on this website.
The Roaming Assembly enables students and tutors to engage on intellectual and interpersonal levels with the places were they are warmly welcomed as members of the roaming DAI-community. Likewise it invites practitioners and the public to mix with our student- and tutor body and to exchange academic and artistic research as well as all sorts of resilient vernacular knowledges.
