Children play to make sense of the world. They explore and create, devising new games and imaginary spaces. They invent, they pretend, they assign new meaning – playing as a means of worldmaking. Entering any space, we are confronted with existing rules and conventions. Hierarchies, inequalities, and exclusion make up the rules of the games we play every day. But what are these rules made of? What are our roles as players? To acknowledge the faults of the game is to open the door to inclusionary ways of playing.   For the duration of 48 hours, Sille Kima, Dalia Maini, Lena Pfäffli and Twins Corporated (all of them: DAI, 2024) will investigate the possibilities and limitations of playing collectively. How can we play without reproducing violent power structures? 23-25 June, 2023.
