"If only our timelines could be replaced by timedials, in a metaphorical coding sense, could social media platforms generate more recursive, less-linear experiences? If this is asking (or expecting too) much from the US centric corporate owned platforms, then could a tonic, the tonic to go with the Djinn of the social media feed, be the parallel readings of Palestinian historians, writer and poets who invite us to longer term conjectures and durations?" From "TIMELINE PALESTINE" by Harun Morrison ( DAI, 2020). Read the full text as published by NERO's Giulia Crispiani (DAI, 2017) under the link.
We mourn the passing of our colleague, curator and theorist Aneta Szylak (1959-2023). In 2010 and 2011 she was zealously involved in the course "Affectionally Yours" tutored by the artists Phil Collins and Hito Steyerl and curated by If I Can't Dance I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution. The project brought tutors and students of the DAI to the Wyspa Art Institute, accommodated on the premises of the former Gdańsk Shipyard. The memories we carry of director Aneta's warm hospitality and outspoken political positioning, always accompanied by her unique blend of sophisticated fun and criticality will be forever cherished by all who participated. Rest in Power, dear Aneta.
