We're posting this out of cheer admiration: the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) is pleased to announce Selma Selman as the winner of the Tajsa Roma Cultural Heritage Prize 2025. Selected from an exceptional group of finalists, Selman is recognized for her bold artistic practice and her commitment to empowering Roma communities through both cultural and social work. A Romani-Bosnian artist working across performance, painting, and video, Selman has earned international acclaim for her direct and uncompromising reflections on identity, inequality, and resilience. Her work challenges dominant narratives and brings new visibility to Roma experiences, particularly those of Roma women. Selman is also the founder of Get the Heck to School, an education initiative supporting girls in her hometown of Ružica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her unique combination of artistic excellence and community activism reflects the mission of the Tajsa Prize: to celebrate Roma individuals who strengthen, preserve, and renew Roma cultural heritage.

Our mellifluous alum Rosa Ronsdorf (DAI 2019-2021) is one half of the Amsterdam band Spill Gold, together with Nina de Jonge. Past releases include an EP on Beacon Sound Records (US, 2017), and the albums Highway Hypnosis on Knekelhuis Records (NL, 2020) and ZaZa on Teenage Menopause Records (FR, 2024). The band has toured Canada, the US, Europe, and the UK, performing at Grauzone, Roadburn, Blue Dot Festival, Le Guess Who, and Eurosonic, among others. swellS is the name of a new collaboration between Spill Gold and Studio Noralie (Noortje van den Eijnde). At Nest in The Hague, they will present a new, large scale textile-installation that moves through machine-driven knockers. The installation reminds of a rippling effect in water, which the artists see as a symbol for ecological entanglement and the interconnectedness of all living beings. The installation will exclusively be on view during AM.PM.AM. (a series of interdisciplinary weekend programmes in which art, performance and music merge) and will be activated in various ways: through a continuous soundscape and a special live performance by Spill Gold on Friday night 28 November.

Kudos to the one and only marce norbert hörler (DAI, 2018-2020 ), the winner of the Manor Art Prize St.Gallen 2025. The Kunstmuseum St.Gallen presents hörler's multi-layered exhibition that combines performance, poetry, scent and architecture and challenges our perception of space and identity. What criteria influence our perception in a space? What traces do bodies leave behind in the spaces they traverse? How does our orientation change when a space is not linear? For marce norbert hörler these are central questions that are addressed in the exhibition slant. DAI is pleased to find the names of several other dear DAI alumni in the credits ! Performances and an artist talk are scheduled between now and the end of May 2026. Click for more details.
