Trans-Actions - Traveling Book Lauch

Booklaunch of the publication Trans-Actions - On Kristiina Koskentola of DAI alumnus Kristiina Koskentola in Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki.

There will be an artist talk and a panel discussion with Mika Hannula and Kristiina Koskentola. Moderated by DAI staff member John Heymans. Words of welcome by Mitro Kaurinkoski.

Trans-Actions focuses on the works of visual artist Kristiina Koskentola (FI/NL), which she made during 2007-2008 in Beijing and on a journey through the Gobi desert in Mongolia. The publication contains essays by Rubén de la Nuez (Cuba/NL) and Marjolein Schaap (NL), a conversation with the artist and Carol Lu (China), as well as an epilogue by Mika Hannula (FI/GE).

Beside reflecting on contemporary Chinese society and art, topics discussed in this book are: the concept of the abject, cultural representations of ugliness, misunderstandings, and memory. The book is published in English and Chinese (Chinese translations: Nan Hao). Design by DAI staff member Ricardo Liong-A-Kong.
