Urak dakar (Water carries) is the new edition of our partner Bulegoa z/b's programme Space is the Place / The Place is Space. Begun in 2018, the program title paraphrases the 1974 Afro-futurist film by Sun Ra. The encounters are comprised of a series of talks and performances that will take place on 18-19 November at Bizkaia Aretoa-UPV/EHU. A film programme hosted by the Zinebi 64 film festival will be presented on 16 November at the Auditorium of the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum. Among the artists and speakers you will encounter many friends and guests of DAI: Kodwo Eshun & Louis Henderson, Denise Ferreira da Silva, Sara Alberani, Itziar Okaritz and last, but not least our amazing alumni Sofia Montenegro (DAI, 2019) and Giulia Crispiani (DAI, 2017).
Thinking together (the disregard) of both, the specific architectural conditions and the role of care work in the tale of the birth of panic disorder, "A stain inside a paper, a whisper" explores processes of (dis)appearance, withdrawal and traces of (in)visibilities Stephan Blumenschein (DAI, 2018) encountered in the archives and during his research period in New York, Spring 2022. From 13 November till 18 December at P/////AKT.
The latest print edition of MetropolisM (nr 5, cover: neo-90s) features the article "Crap Shoot" written by Isabelle Sully (DAI, 2017) an in-depth, fascinating reconstruction into the "criminal" end-of-year show of the Appel Curatorial Program of 1996 (when Adam Szymczyk, Annie Fletcher and the likes were still young). Another DAI alumna in this print run of the Dutch magazine; an interview with Marianna Maruyama (DAI, 2014) at the occassion of her most recent publication Six Blue Things, 2022.
