Fatal Attraction: Internet as Empathy.
Many people think that if we identify the material base of the internet, we will get a clear picture of the profound rearrangement of economic and communicative forces we are currently at the mercy of. We know that something is redistributing our vital energies and solidarities, and that the actual structure and makeup of the glue that holds us together as people is being reformed extremely quickly. We thought it was the internet, and we thought that the internet was made only of wires and servers and corporate and geopolitical jurisdictions. But what is it doing to us? Let's try to push the point a little too far. Because maybe that internet thing is actually a massive update to something we once called love.
