2012 Thursday 29 November / DAI Public Lecture / A Room Where We Conspire, Musically / Presentation for Publishing Class III / By Hong-Kai Wang / Location: Festival of Independents Kunstvlaai 2012.

tag: Amsterdam

Wang will give a presentation on her series "discussion in a room", which she has been developing since 2011. Having been staged in various frameworks and premises respectively in Copenhagen, Vienna, Rome and Taipei, Wang is currently furthering her research in a new commission entitled "What's the musical consequence of change?" for the Arnold Schoenberg Center in Vienna.

Wang will speak about the complex collaboration between herself and twelve Austria-based expatriate composers with regards to their exploration into the organization of listening, speaking, and eventually, writing. This series explores how "discussion" as a commonplace social practice can be of critical potentiality and resistance as to avoid reproducing itself as a given mechanism.

Lecture in the context of Publishing Class lll / How To Live Together curated and organized by Casco in Utrecht, commisioned by DAI.
