Crash-exhibition / comedia dell'arte / cadavre exquis / group portrait at Kortestraat 27, Arnhem. Curated by Maaike Gouwenberg & Joris Lindhout
TONITE: September 28, at 22 p.m. launch of a window shop 'crash'-exhibition: Dutch Art Institute / MFA ArtEZ, Kortestraat 27, Arnhem
Yesterday 30 young artists from all over the world embarked on a two- day project named 'How to Perform a Portrait: Comedy in the Age of Performative Reproduction' and run by artist Joris Lindhout and curator Maaike Gouwenberg: 'In two days we'll be guiding you towards a 'crash-'exhibition based upon portraits. Y'all smile and shed a tear combining comedia dell'arte, re-enactment, the contemporary interest in the live event, persiflage and caricature while creating a performative portrait.'
The master students teamed up in 6 production units: - the poptarts - the proposers - the players - the goths - the public spacers - the politicians. The results of their incredibly smart team building will be on show till October 24, 2011 (The picture shows the 'politicians' at work.)
