Every DAI week, one full day is dedicated to lecture-presentations or lecture-performances by students. Following a model that has been developed and chiseled since 2003, six to eight students each present a 20 minute update of their research to an audience consisting of their fellow students and two, monthly changing respondents (invited artists, theoreticians, curators).

Beginning their presentation with a carefully crafted key question addressing both guests the students will each present relevant aspects of their praxis / works in process / reference sets, rather than finished works. That said: other than the limits of the given time and space there are no restrictions to the content of the presentation. Following each performance, in a conversational mode, the two invited respondents try to come up with a spoken reflection while simultanuously engaging with the question. The discussion between the guests is (lightly) moderated by DAI director Gabriëlle Schleijpen.

In July 2015 DAI will organize a four day 'marathon' where all students, in the presence of all core tutors and project leaders will present a final research update or a performative work (again, within the limits of the set time frame). These presentations will function as the final wrap up of the overall learning trajectory of the student in the academic year 2014-2015. This time we will open our doors for anybody interested.

Each student will be aligned with a coach: this experienced practitioner / researcher / performer attends all 6-7 presentations on a Tuesday and presents the students with feed back during 6-7 face to face tutorials on the Thursday in the same week. In the DAI-week in June during a full day of training the coach and her/his 6-8 students will work towards the student's final presentations in July 2015.

Coaches 2014-2015: Rebecca Sakoun, Rana Hamadeh, Stefanie Seibold, Snejanka Mihaylova , Chiara Fumai and Vivian Ziherl.
