Imagine: A wall-mounted bathroom mirror-cabinet with an engraved mirror showing a multilayered image, with the door ajar to reveal small sculptures inside. For "Chorós: Speaking All at Once" curator Aziza Harmel (DAI, 2015) and artist Alice Speller (DAI, 2020) are collaborating on one single character. In the theatre of ancient Greece, the chorós was a voice of the collective: a group that moved and spoke together, commenting on the drama before them and giving form to the doubts and desires of the community. Where that ancient chorus often spoke as one, lets its many voices sound simultaneously — in unison and in dissonance, in agreement and in argument. Like the programme it belongs to, Chorós is conceived not as a finished exhibition but as a staging — a durational, evolving arrangement that gathers voices over time. To speak all at once, after all, is not to agree: it is to make room for many moods, registers, and truths within a single shared space.
