Palestinian-Canadian artist Jumana Emil Abboud is based between Jerusalem and London and holds a PhD from the Slade School of Fine Art. Working in spoken-word performance, video, walking, journaling, drawing, and collaborative Water Divining workshops, Abboud’s practice explores the reanimation of folklore, storytelling, and interconnected gatherings amid erasure and dispossession.
Her work has been presented at Jameel Arts Centre, Aomori Contemporary Art Centre, Cample Line, Tavros Athens, Documenta, Seoul Museum of Art – SeMA, Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons, the Khaled Shoman Foundation Darat al Funun, at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and Bildmuseum, as well as at Biennales in Lyon, Sharjah, Venice, Istanbul, Qalandiya, and Sydney. Recognitions include the Jameel Fellowship at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, in collaboration with the International Glass and Visual Arts Research Centre (Cirva), Marseille (2024-2025), and shortlisting for the 2025 Joan Miró and 2025–26 Artes Mundi 11 prizes.
