A gathering for experimentation, play and reflection through make-up and clothing as immemorial tools of queer resistance, self-invention and demolition of imposed and castrating societal binaries.
Taking advantage of being in Matera, we will be joined by Neapolitan artist and chosen sister Dario Biancullo.
Through the intertwining of our creative practices, collaboration history and the work we do in Napoli as members of Korybass Collective, we will engage in discourses around identity, reclaiming pre-colonial queer cosmogonies and the practices we utilise as underground queer artists to create space, produce visibility and build community within the context of Southern Italy.
Through the session we will engage in different exercises that relate to our work and invite participants to share their experiences and thoughts to create a circular dialogue of shared sentiments.
Participants are invited to bring whatever make-up supplies and tools they might have at their disposal as well as pieces of fabric and/or articles of clothing they don’t mind altering, tearing apart and decorating.
This student initiative is facilitated by DAI by making it part of the syllabus 2025-2026 and by providing space and time for gathering. It is embedded in the curriculum component WEAVER and participation is credited with ECTS.
