Eglė Bazaraitė

Trained as an architect, Bazaraitė is an Associate Professor in Vilnius Academy of Arts and in Vilnius Gediminas technical university. Her monograph "Cemeteries Beyond the City, in a Forest: Catholic Burial Landscapes in 19th-century Vilnius" was published in 2023 by LAPAS (https://www.leidyklalapas.lt/), and nominated by Ministry of Culture of Lithuania as one of the five best research (non-fiction) books of 2023. She holds a PhD from University of Lisbon (IST, Portugal) for a thesis entitled "Embodying Paradise: silent cities and sacred groves on the margins of Europe". Her post-doc research at Vilnius Gediminas technical university explored 21st century burial space commons and materialities in Lithuania. Besides, she is a co-author of two books on traditional Lithuanian culture. In her previous projects she explored handmade as a tool of empowerment, worked in few architecture offices and wrote to architecture periodics, developed art work for music albums and co-authored a short film "Et in Arcadia Ego".
