2025 - 2026 FACTORY student led: A Factory on Weight

NOVEMBER 22, 2025

Led by Rikke Lundgaard Ebling

When: 20:30 - 22:00

Location: Yoga Room (Ground floor, blue floor)

I am curious to host a space where we practice lifting and being lifted by each other.

We will approach this practice as technique, as performative action, and as a way of noticing the personal, cultural, social, and political questions that arise in the context of this act.

I am looking to critique and expand the lists below.

We live in cultures that:

  • equate lightness with value and heaviness with shame

  • reward independence and treat needing support as weakness

  • gender strength and softness

  • make care labor invisible

  • teach us to minimize the space we take up

  • ???

Can we rehearse another way of being together?

A way where:

  • weight is shared, not hidden

  • support does not reduce freedom

  • being held does not mean being less

  • nobody has to pretend to be lighter than they are

  • ???

Practical:
Wear clothes you can move and rest in.
Bring water.

*** (side note) In Danish, the word lift means ride.”

“hej du der! - kan jeg få et lift?”

“hello you! - can i get a ride?”

I like to think about “lifts” as a ride through space on the surface of another body —

not being taken up, but being taken along.
