Seminar 2: 21 - 23 January 2026

Dear all,

For our upcoming gathering we would like to propose to further deepen and expand our warm-up practice, for which Angelo has made a start for a score (see attachment), and to exercise this collection of movements each start of the day.

Also, we would like to use the coming gathering to nourish ourselves with exploring ‘bodies of sound’ through reading and discussing a selection of texts from the eponymous book edited by Irene Revell. In the attachment you’ll find a pdf with the texts. It is quite a long list, but it contains a diverse and rich range of inspiring, timely, and sometimes intense considerations of sound. It would be great if you could try to have read them before we meet so we all can engage in sharing reflections.

In tandem with the interview ‘Tuning in to the Music of the World’, that is part of the selection, we would like to propose to watch Trinh T. Minh-Ha’s film ‘Forgetting Vietnam’ during our fist evening. The second evening we could dedicate to another listening session.

Additionally, we would like to share with you two texts that we think connect to topics that came up in our last gathering regarding the body-in-relation, and also ‘prepare’ us in a way for our stay at the Curonian Spit as we hope to spend time meandering between the lagoon and the sea, tuning in to the many ‘bodies of sound’ we’ll encounter there.

Looking forward to spending time in Nida,

Angelo and Frederique

Recap, discuss next gathering

Seminar 1: 25 - 27 November 2025

Welcome to our COOP: we are very much looking forward to working together! We hope this day-to-day overview finds you well and we want to thank you all for your motivations that we have been reading with pleasure and appreciation.

For the upcoming confluence, we will make a start with our rhythm of starting the day with the warm-up led by Angelo. Secondly, we would like to dedicate a solid portion of our time together presenting and discussing your work. We propose that each student gets fifteen minutes for presenting and to reserve an equal fifteen minutes for a conversation afterwards. To be able to follow each other’s trajectories, we would like to encourage you to organize your presentation around a facet of your work that you would like to put your attention to the coming months and would like to elaborate on. The third day will be dedicated to an assignment (that Angelo will explain on day two) and we will conclude our first confluence with a group conversation and - reflection. For the evenings we want to propose to have listening sessions, composed by contributions of half the group per evening.

As an undercurrent, we would like to propose to build together a collection of references, texts and other materials, that can inspire and guide us in developing our group work. Angelo and I have made a start with the following suggested readings, for which our interest in breathing and the interval have been incentives (amongst others), including the text by Adriana Caverrero as a bridge from the previous COOP to our current one. We don’t expect you to have read them all before our gathering, just wander through and explore in your own tempo.
