Ann RodriguezFiorillo is a gender non-conforming mover and textile artist. They are woven from Abya Yala fibers, by threads twisted with the sweat and grease of their ancestors’ hands. They delve into the complexities of residues of modernity/coloniality, everyday materials in contemporary existences to imagine, invoke, and embody ways to live otherwise. Sentipensando (feeling-thinking) through interdependency, reciprocity, and communality, they explore texts, textures, textiles, and bodies to understand the nuances of the here/now. This, along with the collectives they are part of, and all the visible and invisible beings que nos acompañan.

Ann studied Design at the Universidad de los Andes in the territory so-called Colombia, where they also minored in textiles, plastic arts, and Italian. In 2021 they join Tejedores de Resistencia (TdR), a collective which uses crochet to explore memory in relation to the Colombian armed conflict. Their project Enlazar hilos matrios creates, through textile, a space for reunion and complicity, for anguish and comfort.

In 2023, their video-dance Aurora won the Performing Arts category at the WE:NOW Festival in Madrid. This project was produced by Mith fotu Records, a records label of improvisation and free jazz they’ve been part of since 2018.

In 2024, Ann co-founded House of Yeguazas Amsterdam (HOYA), the Dutch chapter of the ballroom house from “Colombia”. HOYA connects queer migrants and asylum seekers from Abya Yala in the Netherlands through community-based education, art, and ballroom culture. They are also a member of Skraps, a group that rescues and transforms discarded food into community meals.
