Alva Roselius ~ Keywords: failure, normalcy, (queer) opacity , fake/real, music, theatre

Alva Roselius is an artist and writer whose practice moves between language, space, and sound. Growing up, she played in garage rock and punk bands and worked with theatre groups—experiences that continue to shape her artistic practice.

Roselius’ work is rooted in questions of power, normativity, and opacity—examining how identities are made visible and governed, and exploring refusal and illegibility as alternative ways of being. Alongside absurd moments from everyday life, these themes inspire works on fear, failure, mortality, and the tension between the fake and the real. Her practice combines monologue, music, props, and scenography.

In addition to her artistic work, she has been active in cultural and political collectives—organizing clubs, reading groups, exhibitions, and protests. She also works as a freelance writer, contributing, among other things, to the Swedish anarchosyndicalist magazine Arbetaren.

Roselius holds a BFA from Konstfack and an MA in DAI Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute, ArtEZ University of the Arts. She is currently based in Stockholm.
