Please join artist Laima Jaunzema for the public workshop “Hibernating Lava -Unfolding Otherwise”, part of Research Center for Material Culture's workshop series “There is Nothing to Fix. You Just Have to Let it Rock". This series is curated by artist Raoni Muzho Saleh beginning from embodied solidarity as a form of resistance. Saleh invites participants to become familiar with our rage and grief as a source for personal and collective power to create liberatory change. The workshop will take place on 13 June 2025 | 13.00-16.00 | Studio, Wereldmuseum Amsterdam. Doors open at 12.30.

This workshop invites participants into a shared movement practice that explores the body as a site of political language, poetic disruption, and embodied dissent. Rooted in Laima Jaunzema’s ongoing research on the autistic body- its displacement, and the peripheries of legibility, the three hour session proposes movement as a vocabulary of articulating a path for what resists representation.

The practice welcomes tension, awkwardness, and nonlinear expression, treating the limit as a lens to sense, shape, and shift relational space.

This workshop is open to movers of all backgrounds. No formal dance training is required. We will hold space for bodies to move through poetic and political affect in motion.
