COOP SUMMIT 2025: seven study groups forge their research into an assemblage of public happenings in Nicosia on the island of Cyprus.

Dear friends and comrades, dear all,

As "Roaming Academy" we are temporarily rooting there, where we are welcomed as friends by friends. The Dutch Art Institute is back in Nicosia and invites those who happen to be around on the island of Cyprus on the 24th, 25th and 26th of June, to join us for 3 days of thoughtful intra-action.

Against the maddening backdrop of a world wilfully put on fire, with too many bystanders in denial, 97 DAI-students & tutors from 39 different countries are set to enact COOP SUMMIT 2025, the wrap up of our 2024-2025 collective study and research trajectory, the so-called COOP study groups. The COOP constitutes one out of DAI's four distinctive curriculum components.

COOPs are one year-long collaborative, un-disciplined study trajectories where research is empowered by partnerships between the DAI and: De Appel Amsterdam, Archive Ensemble (Berlin, Dakar, Milan), Bulegoa z/b (Bilbao), Hosting Lands (Copenhagen), If I Can't Dance I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution (Amsterdam), Neringa Forest Architecture (Vilnius) and SAVVY Contemporary (Berlin).

As COOP convenor we acknowledge that a lot of truly transformative work in education is done outside the confinement of the university. By commissioning non-academic art collectives to curate and guide transdisciplinary, collaborative research trajectories, our seven COOP study groups bring the academic and the vernacular together around pertinent questions.

How to live and study together without reproducing violences of past and present ? By holding space for alternative, less extractivist forms of research we rethink our relation with art, academia and the world.

After a year of intensive gatherings across Europe, we now excitedly share the experimental, collaborative research outcomes, curated by our seven COOP study groups.

We look forward to welcome you!
