Hanan Toukan
Hanan Toukan is currently a faculty member at the American University of Beirut -Mediterraneo in Cyprus where she teaches in the Philosophy, Politics and Economics Program. She is also an Associate Professor of Politics and Middle East Studies at Bard College Berlin (on leave). Her work lies at the intersection of international politics, critical theory, colonial/postcolonial studies, and visual culture, focusing on the cultural and institutional politics of art-making, the travel of ideas, and museums and exhibitionary practices that are located at the interface of Europe and the Middle East.She has published articles in various journals including the Journal of Visual Culture, Afterall, Radical Philosophy, Perspectives on Politics, International Journal of Cultural Studies, Cultural Politics, Jerusalem Quarterly and the Journal for Palestine Studies, amongst others. Her book “The Politics of Art: Dissent and Cultural Diplomacy in Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan” is published by Stanford University Press (2021). Addtionally she serves on the board of the Palestinian Museum in Ramallah.
