Yuliia Prokopuk

Yuliia Prokopuk is a researcher specializing in dendrochronology at the Institute for Evolutionary Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv and is currently hosted by the University of Bordeaux. Her studies focus on climate- and human-induced changes in wood, particularly tree-ring width and anatomy. Collaborating with researchers from Ukraine, Poland, France, Sweden, and other countries, she has investigated topics such as the impact of the Dnipro River regulation on tree growth in the floodplain. These and other findings have been published in various scientific journals and presented at conferences, including Eurodendro and TRACE.
Her research has been supported by funding from Ukrainian (NASU program for young scientists) and European Union programs (MSCA4Ukraine), the Forest Research Institute in Poland (IBL), and the French governmental (PAUSE program). Currently, her work focuses on the effects of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster on Scots pine wood growing in the immediate vicinity of the former nuclear power station.
