2024 - 2025 FACTORY student led: SONIC ICONIC

Sonic Iconic is a listening session series which aims to get us to know each other better through sound. It is an invitation to non-verbal space making by exposing our individual headspaces, the music that is playing on each one’s mind, the invisible colours and aesthetics that surrounds them. Through relaxing, sharing and listening to sounds in the same room and inside the hug of a quadraphonic sound system, we are inviting DAI co-students to connect deeper and create a commonly weaved collective headspace.

MARCH 24, 2025

Led by Dimitris Chimonas, Despina Sanida Crezia, Henriks Zegners, Sharon Romie

When: 20:30 - 22:30

Location: SPEL rooftop

This gathering welcomes the spring season with the theme “bloo0OOoom”—a celebration of spring, sensuality, and renewals.
As winter fades, we invite you to tune into sonic propositions that mirror the slow unfurling of petals, the warmth of first touches, the pulse of things coming alive. This session will feature a lineup of 20-minute sonic collages and mixes—fluid and experimental. Sensory awakenings, gentle ruptures, lush unfoldings-- people are invited to come and listen, move, stretch, write, or simply exist in the moment as a sonic hug.

JANUARY 11, 2025

Led by Dimitris Chimonas, Despina Sanida Crezia, Henriks Zegners, Sharon Romie

When: 20:30 - 22:30

Location: Exhibition Space

On the verge of the overwhelming 2024 and of the still abysmally unknown 2025, in this Sonic Iconic session contributors and listeners are invited to sonically reflect on the notions of restart and of overlapping. How does the past overlap with the future, in the present? Or does it? What does it take to do a restart? And what does it actually mean? What are the strategies to begin again? Rupture, overlap, repetition or all of the above?
