ASSEM HENDAWI (1989, Egypt) is an artist and researcher working across moving image, digital media, and speculative methodologies. His practice examines how technology, infrastructure, and power shape perception and futurity, exploring the entanglement of images, governance, and myth in constructing realities. He works with time-based media, simulations, and algorithmic aesthetics, engaging with the tension between documentation and distortion, control and speculation.

His work has been exhibited at Berlinale Forum Expanded, Singapore Biennale, Beirut Art Center, and Townhouse Gallery, among others. He has participated in residencies and fellowships including Salzburger Kunstverein, Manifesta Summer School, and the Human-Machine Fellowship (E-Werk Luckenwalde & Akademie der Künste, 2024). He is the co-founder of SIMIYYA, a platform for artistic research and speculative aesthetics.

He lives and works in Egypt.
