Izaro Ieregi Gonzalez ~ Keywords: sculpture, performativity, somatics, language, feelings, cultural understandings, liminality, subjectivity, collective processes

Izaro Ieregi Gonzalez is an artist based in Donostia. She works from performance with a sculptural notion; sensitive to the vulnerability, precariousness and potentiality of bodies. This manifests itself in a liminal space - sculpture and dance, film and installation, somatic and poetry - that allows her to work freely. She finds her own language by working in specific and differentiated ways, whereby her subjectivity is filtered through processes that involve other people A methodology traversed by time and space, by places, social structures and objects, movement and feelings, exploring the way we feel and articulate the world we inhabit in order to imagine other ways of being.

Izaro holds a degree in Fine Arts and a Master in Art and Research from the University of the Basque Country (2013), where she was also a professor (2018-2021). She extended her training at JAI, Instituto de prácticas artísticas (2020) and at DAI Roaming Academy, Dutch Art Institute (2022). She was also a founding member of OKELA, an independent art space geared towards artists located in Bilbao (2013-2018).
