With a BA in Modern and Contemporary History and a PhD in Art History, Teresa Lanceta (Barcelona, 1951) currently teaches at the Massana Design School in Barcelona. She works with textile, video and software, among other subjects; she has researched the folk art of Moroccan textiles, tenth-century Spanish rugs and women workers in the tobacco industry. She writes for catalogues and journals such as Concreta. Her solo exhibitions include La alfombra roja (The Red Carpet) Museu Tèxtil i d’Indumentària, Barcelona, 1989, Tejidos marroquíes: Teresa Lanceta (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, and Villa des Arts, Casablanca, 2000) Adiós al rombo (Farewell to the Rhombus) La Casa Encendida, Madrid; Azkuna Zentroa, Bilbao, 2016-17). She has also participated in numerous group shows, such as, How to (…) things that don’t exist, 31stSão Paulo Biennial, 2014, El contrato (Azkuna Zentroa, Bilbao, 2014), Viva Arte Viva, 57ª Bienal de Venecia 2017, Arsenale. Venecia. In 2011 she presented Cierre es la respuesta [Closing Is the Answer], a documentary about female employees of the Alicante Tobacco Factory.
