An open letter from the presidents of Gaza universities: " For over a year, our faculty, staff and students have persisted in our core mission — teaching — under unimaginably harsh conditions. Constant bombardment, starvation, restrictions on internet access, unstable electricity, and the ongoing horrors of genocide have not broken our will. We are still here, still teaching, and still committed to the future of education in Gaza. We urgently call on our colleagues around the world to work for: A sustainable and lasting ceasefire, without which no education system can thrive, and an end to all complicity with this genocide. Immediate international mobilisation to support and protect Gaza’s higher education institutions as vital to the survival and long-term future of the Palestinian people. Recognition of scholasticide as a systematic war on education, and the necessity of coordinated and strategic international support in partnership with our universities for the resilience and rebuilding of our academic infrastructure and communities." Arts of the Working Class no 37 ~ This issue moves beyond ideology to explore shifts in consciousness and endurance. Its contributors' inquiries on how transformation emerges through persistence and refusal, and how community, memory, and survival can serve, not spectacle, as true forms of endurance. AotWC considers how belief can become a practice of possibility and a tool for changing the world. With contributions by DAI alumni 2024, Dalia Maini and Meii Soh, among many others.
We're proud to share that Gamze Öztürk (DAI, 2024) has been selected to be part of the Hamburger Community 25–26 residency at Roodkapje in Rotterdam. Gamze will be joining the program alongside Dalal Mitwally, Goretti Pombo, Lon Luna, and Oji Nauli. "A group of artists in transit — tourists, musicians, and tram-riding witches — come together in a fleeting world of constant movement." The resident's first public moments together — collaborative Happenings with Collective Wasteland (of which current DAI student Erik Peters is a member), are taking place at Het Nieuwe Instituut and Roodkapje on 3rd & 24th July 2025.
