On June 17 the booklaunch of this publication is in Timezone 8 in the 798 district in Beijing. There will be an artist talk and a panel discussion with Rubén de la Nuez and the artist. The discussion will be moderated by DAI staff member John Heymans and translated to Chinese by Nan Hao.

Trans-Actions focuses on the works of visual artist Kristiina Koskentola (FI/NL), which she made during 2007-2008 in Beijing and on a journey through the Gobi desert in Mongolia. The publication contains essays by Rubén de la Nuez (Cuba/NL) and Marjolein Schaap (NL), a conversation with the artist and Carol Lu (China), as well as an epilogue by Mika Hannula (FI/GE). Beside reflecting on contemporary Chinese society and art, topics discussed in this book are: the concept of the abject, cultural representations of ugliness, misunderstandings, and memory. The book is published in English and Chinese (Chinese translations: Nan Hao). Design by DAI staff member Ricardo Liong-A-Kong.
