Jeremy Beaudry

Jeremy Beaudry (meaning.boxwith.com) is an artist, designer, and educator from Philadelphia, USA where he is a Professor in Multimedia at the University of the Arts (www.uarts.edu). Since 2006, he has been the Director of the Department for the Investigation of Meaning in the Think Tank that has yet to be named (thinktank.boxwith.com), an artist collective that initiates site-specific conversations, performative actions, and educational projects to interrogate contemporary urban issues. He is also co-owner and lead designer in The Action Mill (www.actionmill.com), a design studio that partners with organizations to create progressive social change.

Working both individually and collaboratively, he has publicly exhibited and presented a range of projects in both national and international venues including Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago, Artivistic 2007 in Montreal, and ISEA2009 in Belfast. He was an artist- in-residence at the Karl Hofer Gesellschaft in Berlin, Germany (2005), and taught graduate students at the Transart Institute in Linz, Austria (2006). In 2008 he was an artist-in-residence at Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum in Alexandria, Egypt as a part of the U.S. Department of State Cultural Envoy program.

He is working with Bassam El Baroni as Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum curatorial team (www.acafspace.org), one of three collectives curating Manifesta 8, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art, which will open in October 2010 in the region of Murcia in Spain. Current research interests include: art and activism, problematics of contemporary art, transformation design, urbanism, architecture and the built environment, spatial practices, network culture, and social media.
